Desoto Drift Feb 19th 2012

February 21st, 2012

Desoto Drift held another great event with an awesome driver turn out. This post is sponsored by:

Tandem went on throughout the whole day, sometimes there were only 2 cars and other times there were 4 cars drifting.

Tom Sullivan dirt dropping and wheel lifting.

Step one – Rock out!

Step two – Leave a nice patch of rubber.

Step three – Rubber catch fire.

The Corollas wanted to do some tandem too!

This is one of the strangest cars I have seen drift.

Brett Collins with a crazy angle, wearing look of concentration.

Neil Stevens with added down-force.

Ouch!

Nothing like friends. That take video of you picking up your intercooler.

I love how crisp this shot is.

Great looking car with Lutz Performance

Jen doing some drifting.

Jen and Sean doing some tandem.

BMW roasting some tires.

Here are some multi shots done during the event.

Construction underway at Honda Grand Prix

February 17th, 2012

Construction for the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg began today. Local news and journalists were on hand for the event.

Channel 10′s Grayson Kamm interviewing E.J. Viso.

Grayson Kamm even got a chance to climb in to the DW12 car.

The next thing I noticed, E.J. was interviewing Grayson!

A barrier being moved into position.

This year’s and last year’s IZOD Indy cars..

Paul introducing the various speakers. (left to right) -Will Phillips (Vice President of Technology at INDYCAR), E.J. Viso (IZOD IndyCar Series driver for KV Racing Technology), Kim Green (co-owner of the event), & Tim Ramsberger (Vice-President and General Manager of HGP)

Media and spectators.

Will Phillips talking about the various safety marks on the new car vs the old one.

Will Phillips talking with Tim Ramsberger about the safety features that have been added to the cockpit.

E.J. saying some really nice words about Dan Wheldon and the design of the DW12.

The crew will probably be working all hours to get the track done before the 25th of March.

Thank you for viewing. If you would like to have me out covering your event contact me.

IZOD Indy showing of new car at Tampa Bay Lightning game

February 17th, 2012

The New DW12 Indy car made its debut at the Tampa Bay Lightning game.

When I arrived I noticed it was missing a good amount of logos.

The nose on the front will be used for the Oval circuits, with a different nose for street circuits.

I still really like the old design (2005) vs the new one (2012). But 2013 is rumored to offer different bodies, possibly following F1?

Still no logos. But I have mixed feelings about this design. It’s great for safety, but I want to see how it actually does on a street circuit.

IZOD guy applying the St. Pete Grand Prix logos.

Car complete with all the logos.

Above shot of the two cars.

Driver E.J. Viso being interviewed by Fox Sports

Fox Sports, fellow photographer of SpeedRacer Photos, and E.J. Viso.

It was also Star Wars night at the game.

The Tie-Fighter Pilot figured he would jump in.

E.J. with the Lightning cheerleaders.

Thanks for the thumbs up E.J.!
